Cloud & Automation: Changing CSPs’ OpEx outlook

Analyst(s): Marcus Blosch and Betsy Burton with Juergen Weiss
This report (Hype Cycle for Enterprise Architecture, 2017; Published: 28 July 2017), says “As digital business progresses, we see an increasing focus on platforms, business ecosystems, analytics and design elements of EA, and a reinterpretation of the fundamentals. For IT leaders willing to rise to the challenge, these are times of unprecedented opportunity.”
The report states that patterns like the “Software Defined Architecture (SDA) is a mature pattern in a number of technology domains, such as software-defined networking and storage, and it is gaining traction as a general architectural pattern that applies to many contexts that suffer from high complexity and challenging scale.” Torry Harris is recognized as a Sample Vendor of Software-Defined Architecture (SDA) in this research.
The report advises Insurance CIOs to “Implement an SDAS mediation layer today using technologies such as API managers, API gateways and SOA governance platforms. Enterprise service buses (ESBs) and integration platform as a service (iPaaS) can also be used to implement some of the SDAS gateway capabilities. The gateway layer should be distributed, replicated and federated to avoid creation of performance bottlenecks or a single point of failure.”
Torry Harris helps businesses to move to the Platform business model with APIs as the means, to securely connect and expose assets across devices and channels. The company has been consistently enhancing its API-o-Blocks product suite to address all steps of the transformation exercise within enterprises. With the addition of “IoT Glue®”, it now addresses integration challenges related to non-standard protocols and transformation in the IoT & IoE world.
